A Tiring Grind, But More Than Worth It...

From a spontaneous Facebook post March 17...

I may be doing it in a nice place, but I'm still bustin' my ass...workin' out through the middle of the night, racing on weekends, tons of writing for races and sponsorship stuff, researching, posting, cleaning beaches, parks, roadway ditches, rest areas...and running on about 4 hours of broken-up sleep a day in our hot van (Fennario gets the cool cross-breeze from open windows in the front while I'm basted in my own sticky sweat roasting in the back. Raced Friday night, raced Saturday morning. Despite pouring sweat, and then thick humidity and high temperatures, still no shower until last night - Wednesday - at around 11pm. Sticky, squishy, itchy, smelly... Gnarly!). It's an exhausting grind, but we're makin' it work. Currently trying to find an agent/manager type to help because wherever we go, people are really inspired. (Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida...it doesn't matter where we are, it's always the same...whether racing or not.) Couldn't escape that if I tried with what I'm doing, so we know the goods there, just need help getting in front of the right people, which takes all the grinding work to lay the foundation for connection. For those thinkin' we're just on vacation, you couldn't be more wrong. This is a real grind, and from the ones who hear the kinda day-to-day stuff, I constantly get told they could never do what we've been doing. I disagree with that, but it does shed some insight on the depth of what we've been enduring...

And this is only barely the beginning of the long term big picture. Everyone thinks that racing is so hard, especially in my banged up body, but despite how challenging it can be to do, grinding it out on the triathlon/duathlon track is the easy part, and place where I find the reprieve from everything else.

It's been good living our purpose though. It was never expected to be easy. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth it. Now with racing happening, all I can think about is Michelle, and she is worth every bit of it, and so much more.
